A field and laboratory based study of medium volatile bituminous coals of the mid-Albian Gates Formation in northeastern British Columbia, Canada, was undertaken to determine the nature, controls and implications of coal compositional variation. Differences in lithotype composition reflect microscopic compositional variation. From bright to dull coals, there is a progressive decrease in. (temperature, atmospheric pressure, etc) for being able to eliminate them during the data processing. Water-tube tiltmeters (Figs and 23) have a base of tens or hundreds of meters. For the complete recording of the variations in horizontal plane two clinometers are necessary, perpendicular on File Size: 11MB.

These results, in conjunction with recent observations, suggest the existence of a threshold in atmospheric CO2 level and/or global temperature, beyond which the Hadley circulation. However, new climate models (Donnadieu et al., ), suggest that continental motions may have altered atmospheric and oceanic circulation to produce global average temperature changes of almost.

Many models proceed from the ‘single control’ approach: all data for a given age, e.g. all data Early Jurassic in age, say ~ Ma, are used to define palaeo-positions and/or palaeogeographies for that age (e.g.

First, it was a change to a humid and warm climate during the mid-Cretaceous, most probably driven by extensive volcanic activity and increases in atmospheric CO 2 (Larson and Erba, ). Second, high input of both marine and terrestrial organic matter intrinsic to climate change (Tissot et al., ) resulted in the development of an.

Sample localities are in the United States of America unless otherwise noted. This is followed by a description of the photograph. Elston and S. Kuhn),Archaeological Papers of the American Anthropological Association In the context of global Jurassic paleogeography, our locality belongs to the Peninsular terrane of Alaska which formed in an island arc situated at low latitudes, near the e quator.
Conse quently, this area belonged to the summer-wet climatic zone, which is confirmed by the collected plant Size: 3MB. A K-Ar age of sericite from Magura of Ma is slightly younger than a K-Ar age of the host rock of Ma.
Ar-Ar analyses of sericitic mica tend to give apparent ages which are Ma older than the K-Ar ages but it is at present unclear whether these are real or a result of the analytical method (argon recoil in fine-grained mica samples).
